Asche Stresses Human Relations

In our senior year, our newly elected student body president, David Asche, presented a visionary idea in the first issue of the Smoke Signal. He proposed a new club, the Human Relations Club, which stressed the importance of communication between students in all classes, our administrators, other schools and local communities…a remarkable idea for its time. This theme, at the end of the turbulent ‘60's, encouraged students to follow their passions to create change, both on the local and national level. We carried this drive for change into the future. 50 years later, we can only marvel at the changes that have occurred. We look forward to reconnecting and reminiscing about those controversial times and celebrating together on October 5th. - Terry Carlin
